Greetings!
Are you surviving this current Mercury
Retrograde that we are in? I have to say that this one has been a challenging
one for many people. My advice is to allow the pressures of this
retrograde to expose the areas in our lives (similar to the light of a hugely
bright sun)--- to spotlight where we need to shift our focus, our energies, or
our non-productive patterns. Don't resist the effects but allow them to move us
into finding ways to resolve our stuck reactions, stagnant non-movement, or
pattern-driven behaviors. Astrological events, such as the retrograde of a
planet, are not meant to torture us (even if sometimes it feels like it!) but to
test our mettle, hone our abilities against negative pressures, help us
revisit our past to resolve issues, and clear current misunderstandings around
the specific planetary influences that are retrograde. Let's turn the retrograde
into a friend who is willing to do his or her best to help us to clear!
Are you ready for more teleportation
stories? I have given you a bit of a break from the previous ones. I think it is
time for a new one, don't you? This month's story is a wild one---it is true,
but will probably stretch your thinking processes.
We also are presenting another fine
article from Robert Rabbin, and a new contributor to our newsletter, Jean-Claude
Koven, the author of the hugely popular, cutting-edge book, Going Deeper
(which we reviewed here a few months ago). A lovely article about the recently
passed Pope and his love of animals is reprinted from PETA. And in the spirit of
PETA, I have included several absolutely precious animal pictures. I have also reviewed
two books this time, plus much more!
Until next time (June), have a great
life!
with blessings and love,
Alijandra

Teleportations and Synchronicities
By Alijandra
In 1998, I took a two-hour car ride with
my friends, Joy and Amber through from San Jose through San Francisco to Santa
Rosa, California, where we were attending a spiritual event. We chatted about a
number of topics throughout the trip over to San Francisco. One of the subjects
that stands out to this day turned out to be one of the most synchronistic
events I have ever experienced.
I talked about my former boss, Al, from the company I'd left in June 1990 when I
went "full time" with my healing work. I had inherited money from the unexpected
deaths of my parents the previous year. I figured it I didn't quit the corporate
field then, I might miss my opportunity. The extra money would tide me over if I
didn't earn enough from the healing work.
I got along great with Al. He was strict with his evaluations, but fair and
generous. He was a great manager and people person. After leaving, I had only
been back about once the first year after I left to say "hi" to him and a few of
the staff I had been friendly with. It had been years since I had seen or talked
about him.
When we reached the Golden Gate Bridge, I remember saying something about us
soon crossing the bridge, as we came upon a sign for the toll booth (which was
the 'no bridge fee' direction). I was looking forward to the experience.
Although I have lived in the Bay Area for approximately 25 years, I can count on
less than two hands the amount of times I have had the privilege of crossing
over this man-made wonder and the beauty of the San Francisco expanse from this
vantage point.
After the talk/meditation at the center, which had been very powerful and
enjoyable, we went to get something to eat. About half-way through eating, it
hit me hard, like a major revelation that I had no recollection of crossing the
Golden Gate bridge. I turned to my friends and said, "How come we didn't cross
the Golden Gate bridge?" They looked perplexed. They said we must have, although
none of us has any memory of going across the bridge! Joy said to me today, as I
write this, that her first memory after the toll booth announcement was the
first tunnel we go through upon getting off of the bridge. It, oddly enough, has
a rainbow painted on it! For those who know the San Francisco area, you know
there is only one way to get from San Francisco to the Marin side. That way is
the Golden Gate Bridge. No exceptions, unless you are in a boat on .the water
and cross over. I chalked it up to another teleportation experience. So many
were happening to me in those years.
On the way back, Amber asked to be dropped off at her father's house in Oakland.
So, naturally, we decided to take the Richmond/San Rafael bridge back. After
dropping Amber off, there were a few delays as we got a bit lost finding the
freeway entrance from that location.
Once we got on Interstate 880 from Oakland to San Jose, it was probably about
midnight. There was still a fair amount of traffic, which is not untypical for
the bay area. I was fading fast, and found myself nodding off in between
chatting with Joy. Around the Fremont area, I suddenly perked up, and glanced
over to the lane to our right. Just up ahead, was a car with Al's personalized
license plate (with his unusual last name on it) The car was a different one
than the one he had when I knew him, but the plates were the same. I told Joy,
"That's my former boss' car! Let's pull up closer." As we drew side-by-side,
there was no mistaking Al's distinct profile, and his blonde wife next to him!
This lasted about less than a minute as the next turnoff they exited the
freeway. By the way, they lived in Fremont.
Now, if I was from a small town, this would not be an unusual occurrence to see
someone from the past. What sets this experience apart is:
(1) There are approximately one million people in the greater San Jose area.
Fremont is a bedroom community north of San Jose with a fairly large population
of its own. You just don't run into people unless it involves synchronicity.
Especially on a weeknight at midnight on a freeway.
(2) I had just talked about him a few hours before, which was highly unusual.
(3) We took a different route home and just happened to be a minute or so
side-by-side on the same freeway before he exited. We feel that the delay in
Oakland was a setup to put us there at the right time.
(4) In the seven years since then, I have never seen him again. Nor had I seen
him in the eight years before that night.

TALKING OR TYING SHOES?
by Robert Rabbin
I was recently speaking with a friend about Radical Sages. She is an energy
healer who has been certified in various forms of counseling work, all of which
aim to help people live more authentic and compassionate lives, in harmony with
nature.
As I spoke, I put my usual emphasis on merging insight with action, of embodying
and demonstrating universal spiritual principles, of needing to engage the
issues of the day with wisdom and compassion--and also with strength and direct
action on behalf of our spiritual values. In order to do this, I said we have to
awaken to the world around us. I suggested we spend at least one hour a day
reading independent media accounts of current events. I said listening to Amy
Goodman on Democracy Now! should be as much a daily spiritual practice as
scriptural reading and meditation. I invoked Dr. Huston Smith, who said the goal
of spiritual life was "not altered states, but altered traits." I asked her what
an authentically spiritual, wise, and compassionate life looked like. How is
such a life behaviorally distinctive?
"I don't want to get into the issue of abortion, or whether we should invade
Iraq, or what we should do with our tax dollars. I don't want to polarize people
or antagonize them by taking a partisan stand. I want to help them recover their
soulful knowledge and respect for the Earth. I just want to call people to their
higher self." So do I.
And I want to know what recovering soulful knowledge and respect for the Earth
looks like in action. I want to know what calling others and being called
oneself to the higher self looks like when it comes time to make a mindful,
conscious choice.
On Tuesday, I gave a talk to members of the San Francisco chapter of Spirit at
Work. I quoted a few passages from my book Igniting the Soul at Work. In one
chapter, I recalled an experience that made me realize there is, in fact, a
behaviorally distinctive quality to the higher self, to expanded awareness, to
wisdom and compassion:
I once witnessed a spectacle of silence in the Berkeley Community Theater. Every
one of the 3,491 seats was occupied. On stage sat Thich Nhat Hanh, a Vietnamese
Buddhist monk. Next to him sat a young woman. The monk spoke about mindfulness,
about awareness, about respect for each other and all living things. He spoke
slowly and quietly. From time to time he would fall silent, and the woman would
pick up and ring a bell that rested on the floor in front of her. The
reverberations of the bell could be heard throughout the auditorium and felt
within each person's brain, stimulating perceptions of intuitive subtlety.
Thich Nhat Hanh's talk was less about information than experience. The words
were like a tour bus carrying the audience to ancient sites of meaning and depth
and beauty. Though the bus was still and unmoving, we traveled far and saw much.
Anyone could have dropped a tack or a nail file, even a piece of paper, and the
noise would have seemed loud because the silence was so great.
After some time, I felt the audience breathe in unison, a meditative breathing,
a breathing that connected us together and to the awareness of which the monk
was speaking. I thought I was sitting in the mountains at twilight, when life
itself begins to creep from its hiding places like a deer come to drink from a
lake of pentagrams and stars.
Even when speaking, the monk was silent, was silence. In order to hear his words
of silence and the silence within his words, the audience had to be silent and
become silence. It was a spectacle. We were embraced by silence and thus set
free from agitation, from separation, from duality. It would have been
impossible for any anger or cruelty to arise in that community. It would have
been impossible for anyone to harm another in any way.
I cannot conceive of wisdom, compassion, or the higher self existing independent
of such a behavioral display. Though we didn't get around to asking what his
"stand" was on current hot button issues like abortion and war, I know he is on
record as saying, "Do not live with a vocation that is harmful to humans and
nature. Do not invest in companies that deprive others of their chance to life."
That seems pretty direct and unequivocal to me. I cannot imagine the good monk
not saying those words, even if they might antagonize someone who profits from
harming humans and nature. Insight and action are as inseparable as flower and
fragrance. I respect Thich Nhat Hanh for both his wisdom and his position on
right livelihood. Actually, wisdom and right livelihood are not two separate
things, but one thing, without separable parts.
I have been a student of mysticism almost my entire life. There was a time when
I, too, thought it was enough to call people to higher ground, to inspire their
innate goodness. I have noticed, however, that for most people, including many
highly evolved spiritual teachers and healers, that behavior lags far behind
rhetoric. We may speak in angelic phrases, but where do we put our feet? We may
invoke higher consciousness, but where do we invest our money, where do we go to
work, what products do we buy, and for whom do we vote?
A disciple was getting ready to help his Master get ready to deliver a lecture.
His friend asked, "What is it about what the Master says that makes you go to so
many of his talks?" The disciple responded, "I don't go to hear the Master talk.
I go to watch him tie his shoes."
I love this statement by Ram Dass, "Science and religion both teach that we are
all interconnected, and thus interdependent. And at the very core, we are all
One. But how do we live as if we know this?"
How do we live as if we know this? If we are alive, we make choices. What are
they? And, should we not, as spiritual beings seeking to heal a troubled world,
put our own choices, our own behavior, on the line as examples of higher
consciousness?

Will the World Really End on December 21, 2012?
By Jean-Claude Koven
I was recently asked how I interpreted the Mayan and Hopi predictions that the
world, as we know it, will end on the 21st of December, 2012. Would there be
global war --- possibly triggering a nuclear holocaust? Would the planet's
life forms finally succumb to the ecological quagmire that's been building in
our soils, oceans and atmosphere? Would the current steady increase of
previously unknown diseases overcome our ability to defend against them? Or
will we suddenly move into a new Golden Age in which the lion lies down with
the lamb and struggle, pain, and suffering are gone forever?
This is no small question. Quite the contrary, it deals with some of the
larger concepts in the universe. From a metaphysical perspective, the world
ends and recreates itself every instant. December 21, 2012 is certainly no
exception. However, it does offer a target date that brings all the possible
scenarios into vivid focus.
What we perceive from our vantage point of being in human form is only a teeny
sliver of the infinite swirl of interpenetrating realities that make up the
universe. To us, there is a past, present, and future. Time appears to move
predictably from moment to moment forming the days and years of our lives.
2012 is a real date on our calendars and each of the possible scenarios can be
seen to be advancing steadily toward it like racehorses to the finish line.
If you were to ask the "2012 End-of-the-World" question of a gifted psychic,
she (or he) would gaze into several of the parallel universes making up our
possible futures and report back on the one that seemed to be the most vivid.
This is like a handicapper picking the favorite in a particular race. Just as
in horse racing, the favorite often wins or comes close. But, not always. On
any given day, one of the long shots might cross the line first while the
favorite trails the field.
From a cosmic perspective, picking the winning scenario is easy. Understanding
the nature of how this can be done is considerably more elusive. Infinity is
impossible to grasp in finite terms. When we pose a finite question in an
infinite realm, it's like trying to cram a herd of stampeding elephants into a
matchbox. It won't be the lack of effort that defeats us, but the minuscule
size of the container we are trying to use. Our minds are the matchbox. We are
going to have to think way out of the box to begin to grasp the answer to how
our world will fare on December 21, 2012.
The simple answer is that every one of the possible scenarios you can envisage
will find expression in one or more of the myriad parallel universes that
manifests in every instant. And that includes the date spoken about by so many
as the moment our world will come to an end. What adds weight to this date is
the fact that with each passing hour more people are becoming aware of it,
adding their energies to the consensus. We have already seen the power of
agreement at work in events such as World Healing Day, The Harmonic
Convergence and other similar moments of global focus. It was not the calendar
date that created the power; it was the cohesive intent of those who took
part.
Having said that, it is no mere coincidence that so many disparate cultures
all around the world, that have had no known contact with one another, should
focus on the same date. There is increasing evidence that the time leading up
to the final solstice of 2012 does mark the presence of an energy portal that
has never before been accessible to the human race. Each of us is being
offered an opportunity to shift that may not again arise in thousands of years
to come.
Whether December 21, 2012 actually marks an immutable cosmological event or
becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy is moot. There is no question that it looms
as a very significant moment. What concerns most people, is how they and their
loved ones will be affected. At one end of the bell-curve of probabilities is
total physical annihilation. At the opposite end is the arrival of the Golden
Age we all dream about. Every other conceivable possibility lies between them.
Somewhere near the center of the curve most people will find their most likely
scenario in which the monumental moment will pass quietly like Y2K and their
lives will appear to continue as if nothing happened at all.
December 22, 2012 will dawn as clocks continue to tick and the human race
continues to move one day closer to whatever future harvest it has sown. That
doesn't mean that many other people, who live their lives at the extremities
of the curve, won't experience radically different events.
Imagine if you will, that you are in the center of a vast central train
station. The tracks are arranged like the spokes of a giant wheel, each moving
away from the center in a different direction. The trains are all scheduled to
depart at the same moment on December 21, 2012. Every human being on Earth is
at the station; free to board any of the trains he or she chooses. Each train
is destined for a different parallel universe in which one of the innumerable
possibilities is played out.
You (like everyone else) are at the station and must get on one of an almost
infinite number of trains. But, like the psychic, you can only see one or two
of them. Your choices appear meager --- almost as if you had no choice at all
and your future was determined totally by fate. Such is not the case at all
--- unless, of course, you allow it to be.
If you remember the station scene in the Harry Potter books (or movies) in
which the wizard children were able to board the Hogwarts Express on platform
9 3/4 by walking straight through a concrete pillar, then you will begin to
see how all this works. What is delightfully easy for wizards is equally
impossible for muggles (non-wizards).
The Hogwarts Express is bound for the next dimension --- the Golden Age
of our dreams. The problem is that until you become a wizard, you have no way
of finding the right platform. The world, as you know it, will definitely end
on December 21, 2012, if that's what you choose. You will definitely be there
when it happens, seated on one of the infinite number of trains leaving the
station. Every one of us will be required to be on board.
Now that you know where you will be on the day the world ends, you get to
decide which train you'd like to ride. There is still time (according to the
calendars of this illusion) before the trains must leave the station. Plenty
of time for you to leave your muggle world behind and become the wizard you
already are. The choice, as always, is yours.

Pope John Paul II Taught Love
for Animals
Re-printed from PETA
(People for the Ethical
Treatment of Animals)
As Catholics around the world mourn the
passing of His Holiness John Paul II, non-Catholic animal lovers join them in
their grief.
Pope John Paul II taught love for animals
more than any other pope in recent memory.
In 1990, His Holiness proclaimed that “the
animals possess a soul and men must love and feel solidarity with our smaller
brethren.” He went on to say that all animals are “fruit of the creative action
of the Holy Spirit and merit respect” and that they are “as near to God as men
are.” Animal lovers everywhere were overjoyed!
The Holy Father reminded people that all
living beings, including animals, came into being because of the “breath” of
God. Animals possess the divine spark of life—the living quality that is the
soul—and they are not inferior beings, as factory farmers, fur farmers, and
others who exploit animals for profit would have us believe.
After he became Pope John Paul II, His
Holiness went to Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis, and spoke of the saint’s
love for animals. He declared, “We, too, are called to a similar attitude.”
PETA is grateful that His Holiness spoke
out so beautifully for animals and their souls, and we hope that his successor
will also speak out for them with the same love and compassion. Catholics can
honor his teachings by incorporating compassion for animals more fully in their
own lives.

Book Review
My Summer with the Leprechauns
by Tanis Helliwell
- Softcover: 191 pages
- Publisher: Blue Dolphin Publishing (1997/2004)
- ISBN: 1-57733-001-3
Magical Trek into the Faery Realm
|
I first read this
delightful book about 5 years ago while it was in its first printing
(1997). I loved it the first go around, and loved it again during a
second read about 2 years later. I don't know why I have waited this
long to write a review of it, but here goes.
Canadian author, Helliwell, traveled to Ireland to spend a summer
getting in touch with her roots. Little did she know that she would
be "sharing" her home there with a leprechaun family and any other
resident of the nature kingdom who chose to drop in any time they
felt like it!
The results of her trip were life shaking, life affirming and life
changing. She is fortunate to have been able to experience what she
did over there, and we are blessed with the wisdom of that kingdom
that she has passed on to us as rules for living, and how to make
the connections to this realm again after so many years of
separation between the human world and the elemental/devic realm.
After the first read, I had my first conscious, remembered visit in
this lifetime (I am not counting childhood) from an elf who let me
know she was from my "future home" 2 years from then. Sure enough,
her prophecy turned out to be true as I was later lead to a home,
whose backyard was chock full of nature spirits, the elves and
faeries, and a resident leprechaun who was seen by more than myself.
I know that world exists. But if you can't wrap your mind around it,
take this story as wonderful fictional reading.
Either way, you can't lose!

Powers of Ten
by
Charles Eames & Ray Eames
the Macrocosm to the
Microcosm---a cosmic adventure,
|
From a proton to the
deeper reaches of space (at 10 million light years), this little gem has
been an inspiration to me since I purchased it a few years ago. It is
based on the film of the same name. It simply presents photos of each
level with what you are looking at---one picture per page. Hence, the
"flipbook" feature.
Going by the mathematical powers of ten (ie 10 to the +23 meters (outer
space past our galaxy) to the proton at 10 to the -15 power, the
structure of our universe and ourselves is endlessly fascinating to me.
It actually solidifies my validation of the truth "as above, so below".
If one ever doubts that there is a Higher Power, just check this amazing
visual feast of a book out!
A mind-expanding experience!

A review from
Amazon. com website
"Rainbow Healing
Blazes Across the Universe",
February 24, 2005
I have just finished
reading Alijandra's HEALING with the RAINBOW RAYS again. The concept
can be summed up in one sentence. Getting one's colors lined up.
However, that simple sentence barely touches on the complexities of
getting one's self "lined up." Alijandra allows us to discover the
multiple chromatics of our chakras and how to fine-tune them. As she
so brilliantly describes the color hues of each chakra's location
and how to personally tune this to our best well-being is a detail
exploration of ones own self. Her ability to combine and explain the
natural energies that emanate all around and through us, provides a
detailed road map to help one understand themselves and others
better.
HEALING with the RAINBOW RAYS requires a person to take a personal
interest in their self. By utilizing Alijandra's teachings and
techniques we will find our own unique power from within. And with

with one's own self.
I look forward to reading more writings from Alijandra.
