Greetings everyone!

Well, this year has come to an end. As we look back and evaluate where we have been and where we are at now, my wish for you is that you will find that you have grown and expanded your vision, and explored as many of your potentials as you could. While every day is like a "new year", this once a year "New Year" gives us a measuring stick for the time between each of these signposts. This evaluation of the past 365 days is a book of our lives. Ask yourself these questions now:

(1)  Are you happy in your chosen work?

(2)  Do you have loving relationships?

(3)  Is your spiritual growth of utmost importance and priority in your life?

(4)  Do you feel financially stable or secure--no matter what your income?

(5)  Do you perform any service work or help to your fellow humans (or animals)?

(6)  Do you take care of yourself physically?

(7)  Do you keep your mind flexible and expanded?

(8)  Do you have balance in your life? (work vs leisure)

(9)  Do you think globally and not just nationalistically?

(10) Do you show concern and support for the future of our planet and support those causes which aid in this?

If your answers are not what you would want for yourself, resolve (yes! make a resolution) that things will be different this new year, and that you will place more emphasis on the areas of your life which are weaker, or need improvement.

I would like to acknowledge the passing from this plane of Dr. Joshua David Stone, who has been instrumental in getting out valuable information on the ascension process, and whose Wesak Celebration in Mt. Shasta each year has been a huge draw of lightworkers. He passed in his sleep in August. I know that he continues his work on the other levels, and still guides on this plane, as well. Godspeed, Dr. Stone!

Announcement of New Class on Channeling

I want to announce a new version of an old class that I taught in the past. It is a class on "How to Channel". I have found in my life that I have been tapped by Spirit to aid others in their foray into this arena. I have much experience in the aiding of others in trance channeling, conscious channeling, automatic writing and all types of channeling! I can jumpstart you into the process and make sure that you are always safe. Being safe is something that not all teachers make a priority.

Spiritual Download

     Several years ago, I had what you might call a “download.”

     At the risk of sounding like I’ve spent too long in “Silicon Valley”---the popular name for the metropolitan area of San Jose, California where I’ve made my home for over 25 years, it really couldn’t be called anything less than that.

     Information poured into me in the form of energy---most of it so quickly that I couldn’t catch probably 99.9% of it.

     For a few years, I had been procrastinating in moving myself past the levels I had been teaching. While I was concurrently and rapidly evolving through various initiations, on a fast track like many of us are presently, I had depended on my council of guides, primarily on St. Germain, to be there through thick or thin. Of course, it seemed like every year or two there was a “change of the guard”---new guides added as others left. As I shifted, I outgrew some of the beings that had been originally assigned to me. The one constant was St. Germain, my main teacher.

     That was about to change. Just before the “download” he said to me, “You are stopping at me. You need to pass by me and go directly to Source for your answers.” I rebelled, of course. Why change things?

     It was taken out of my hands. Source intervened, and removed St. Germain from my sphere. The message was clear. It was time to stretch, and shift my focus to Source.

     While I generally found the Source to be initially somewhat impersonal in Its enormousness, as compared to the personal, witty, loving, and occasionally maddening “Wonderman of Europe,” I was rewarded with so many ways to help human beings to heal themselves on every level. And, in addition, brought myself back into my own Oneness with the All That Is. Everything I loved about St. Germain, I found embodied in our Creator.

     And as I fulfilled my destiny to be connected consciously back to Source, I was rewarded with the presence of St. Germain again. Now both guide me.

Your Cosmic Outlook for January 2006

The winter solstice on December 21st marks one of four major spiritual gateways or power times that happen each year. During the solstice the barrier between the physical realm and the spiritual dimension becomes thinner. The spirit of the solstice will remain strong as we move into the New Year, so early January is a great time for goal-setting, meditation, and affirmation.

Capricorn energies will be strong through the end of January. Capricorn is that hard-working Earth sign represented by the hardy mountain goat. But early astrologers looked at this sign in a very different way.

Capricorn was once connected to Oannes, a half-man, half-fish creature. The human side of Capricorn was grounded in the material realm but his watery side was attuned to the world of psychic forces. To this day, despite a change in its associated symbol, Capricorn retains a deeply intuitive aspect. People born under this sign possess a unique sensitivity.

From December 22nd through January 20th the sun will be in the sign of Capricorn. There is also a new moon in Capricorn on December 30th, and Venus is in Capricorn for most of January. All of this Capricorn energy means that people born under the Earth signs of Capricorn, Virgo, and Taurus should experience heightened confidence and enthusiasm as they focus on projects carrying them throughout January.

All of the signs will be inspired to roll up their sleeves, adopt a  "Can do " attitude, and set some powerful intentions for 2006. A spirit of discipline and an increased sense of responsibility are likely to be felt by all.

An Example of Spiritual Action

When it comes to explaining concepts, I favor metaphors over definitions, and I favor examples over metaphors. Examples are the best way to explain concepts: don't tell me; show me. What does enlightenment mean? Don't tell me the answer: show me.

I begin with this caveat because I am often asked to define spiritual activism or, as I prefer to call it, spiritual action -- about which I speak. I usually say that spiritual action is the embodiment of the highest expression of our common humanity -- love, wisdom, and peace. I say that when we enter the Silence beyond the mind, we discover our authentic nature, and this nature expresses itself in certain predictable ways: as love, wisdom, and peace. I say that spiritual action is not a choice, it is choiceless. The experience of our authentic being and its embodiment as wisdom, love, and peace are a singular, inseparable movement, dance, entity. Insight and action, flower and fragrance, wetness and water.

I have said that spiritual action, when presented with violence, presences peace; when presented with hatred; presences love; when presented with fear, presences unity.

Of course, I go on and on with metaphors and definitions because I love to talk, however futile such talk may be. So today, I want to offer a beautiful example of spiritual action, courtesy of one of my many new Australian friends: Isira Sananda.

A brief context: in the past few days, a number of violent incidents, dubbed "race riots," have occurred on Cronulla Beach, one of Sydney's beachside suburbs, to the extent that authorities have said they intend to close Cronulla, and several other beaches, for the weekend. Two thousand police have been dispatched to the area to stand guard against further disturbance.

Isira acted. The media release distributed by her organization, Living Awareness (www.isira.com), announced: Living Awareness, centre for healing and personal growth, today said it will hold a peace gathering at Hyde Park, on Sunday 18 December, to join with the Sydney community in peace, to unite and transform the violence in the area.

And so it happened. On Sunday, December 18th, at 11 a.m., some 25 people gathered in Hyde Park, Sydney, Australia. I was among them. There were no fiery sermons, no placard-waving demonstrations, no chanting. Actually, no nothing. Just sitting together, quietly, then silently. A small band of people in full public view, sitting silently, acting spiritually in response to violence. No thought, no deliberation, no planning, no fundraising: just this, a simple response from the heart, choiceless, immediate, loving, peaceful, embodied, public. Beautiful. Not against anything. Not for anything. Just sitting in authentic being, radiating authentic being. Insight and action, flower and fragrance, sitting and silence, peace and more peace.

On this brightly prophetic day in Hyde Park, with traffic filling Elizabeth Street, and throngs of people flowing through the park toward the cafes and shops, in this city of five million people, in this country of 20 million, on this Earth with six billion -- some 25 people gathered to express the peace of their authentic being, to demonstrate their peacefulness, to welcome others without distinction, to meet others heart to heart, and thus meet them unified in peace, and unified in love; on this morning turning to early afternoon, under the sun and blue sky, some 25 people chose to gather in peace, to announce peace, to show peace; to sit quietly and open their hearts, to open themselves, to expand themselves and embrace all, to welcome themselves, and each other, and others not present, and the world, the Earth herself, welcoming, welcoming in love and peace, choiceless, immediate, without thought, but from the necessity to embody the highest expression of our common humanity, to testify to the truth and accuracy of my definition of the nature of authentic being: unity-in-love with all creation.

I know the world is richer and more vibrant, more alive with spirit, more open for peaceful possibilities, for our gathering, for our expression, for our choice. May we all find ways to gather for peace, to express peace, to choose peace, for this is truly the highest expression of our common humanity. May we find ourselves in each other, and delight in each other, and celebrate life with each other, in love, and joy, and peace -- each day, every day, from now until forever.

I'd like to conclude by quoting another of my new friends, a marvelous young sage who lives with his parents and younger brother, Seth, in Melbourne: Narayan John Matthews, five years old:

"If the world can be beloved by us, we can bring peace and hope to all the world."

2006: YEAR OF THE FIRE DOG

Time to Come Out of the Kennel

For the Chinese people the New Year formally commences each year in February. Using their traditional Solar calendar, they start a year on the 4th February which begins the new zodiac animal cycle. The New Moon day of 30th January 2006 (Australian & Asian time), however, is the official Lunar New Year celebration day when the dragons and fireworks come out into the streets (29th January in Europe and USA due to time zone differences).

2005 was the year of the Wood Rooster and its been quite a roller coaster year. Now in the cycle of twelve animals comes the faithful Dog. The Dog in Chinese astrology has its principle qualities of loyalty, faithfulness and unselfishness. The Dog is active and honest and is appreciated by his superiors and those under him/her due to giving priority to the collective interests of all rather than his own. His/her best role is as a prophet of future events and he barks to draw attention to the events of the day as well as to the injustices of the world. He does look to how wrongs can be corrected. He's forever on guard to look after his property and so anxiousness is a characteristic of his personality. Money is important for his family and so he will earn it to support them, however, he thinks of it as mere 'paper'. He delights in anything to do with the occult, the mysterious, the bizarre and the unusual so he yearns to investigate these things in his life.

WILD AND ROMANTIC

The Dog's favourite places are wild and romantic landscapes and the remote regions of the world. He feels at home in the wilds of Tibet or Mongolia, the windswept islands of Scotland and the jungles of the Amazon. For this reason he is an explorer but he also prefers the comforts of peaceful evenings by the fire where its far from the business of the everyday world. As a profession he is suited to be a manager or head of companies, and he cares very much about the quality of the work environment. He can be a priest, nun, missionary, teacher, nurse, magistrate, judge, lawyer, doctor, scientist, researcher or preacher. More than any other animal of the zodiac the Dog is always asking itself, "What am I doing here on earth and what is my purpose in it all?"

A special feature of the Dog born person is that he/she is the one who sits at the gates awaiting nightfall wherein he will prowl and keep watch. He is a faithful watchdog and is the guide and guardian in the underground invisible worlds and thus, lying at the gates of the underworld, is a figure of the subterranean world of life and death and is symbol of initiation into the rites of death and rebirth. He pleads mankind's cause with the gods and especially brings questions for us all about our life purpose. Cerebus, of Greek mythology, was the dog who lay at the cave entrance by the River Styx, the river that souls crossed in their passage from life to death, guarding the Gates of Hell and Pluto's underworld. In the Egyptian Book of the Dead it was the dog who guided souls on their journeys into the next world. This year then, will bring a certain edge to us questioning why we are all here.
 
What will make the Dog year a special one and what will be the qualities of the coming year?

This Year of the Dog is composed of two elements as is normal in the Chinese zodiac. Each animal has its own element - the Dog is an animal ruled by Earth. The yearly quality moves through the Chinese Five Elements every five years so this year is a Fire Dog year. Its Fire burning on top and the Earth underneath. The last time we had a Fire and Earth Dog year was 1946 at the end of World War Two, the first year of peace and recovery. The United Nations General Assembly had its first meeting in London in 1946 and elected its Secretary General. The verdicts of the Nuremberg Trials of war criminals were first handed down and many Nazi war criminals condemned to death.  Leaders of many world governments stepped down as the war ended and new leaders took their place - France, Argentina, Italy, Albania, Hungary, Japan, Sarawak and Czechoslovakia all experienced changes in leadership and status.

In the arts, the first Cannes Film Festival in France was held and the Emmy awards for film were founded in 1946. Buckminster Fuller designed the first Dymaxion House. Picasso founded his pottery works in Vallauris, France. Irving Berlin staged the musical comedy 'Annie Get Your Gun' in New York.

In the scientific fields, the Atomic Energy Commission was formed. The US Navy tested the first atomic bomb at Bikini Atoll. Pilotless missiles were first tested and constructed en masse. Admiral Byrd took his famous expedition to the South Pole. Sun spots were found to emit radio waves and the first electronic brain computer was built in the USA.

OPTIMISM AND HONESTY
 
With the Fire sitting on top of Earth, according to the Chinese cycle of birth and destruction, Fire will give birth to Earth. This is more a symbol of support and harmony and may bring a relatively more peaceful year with less international conflicts than in the past few years. Fire sitting on top in 2006 is yang Fire which is like the Sun. It symbolises openness, optimism, warmth, politeness and care. There can therefore, be more open and honest peace talks and settlements leading to a more harmonious atmosphere which has been lacking for many years.  The earth underneath, in the Dog, has the symbolism of the Gates of Hell. This carries spiritual and religious implications for all of us. The year 2006 will likely focus on seeking more spiritual meaning and answers and more people will be drawn to religious and philosophical questions and growth.

The Fire Dog is very socially conscious of rights and wrongs so we can expect that this coming year will bring a strong focus on injustices in the world, on political policies that are wrong and the ordinary person will be more questioning of their leaders and their leaders' decisions. Issues over the war in Iraq for example and any possible invasion of Iran or North Korea will be strongly contested by public debates and any decisions that the public perceives are done for the wrong reasons will bring much debate and media discussion. Many will throw their principles on the line for what they see as truth in international and national politics. Debates in many countries could be fierce and accompanied by much barking and noise as the Dog exerts its strength in the principles of justice for all.

With Fire over Earth, the earth can be strengthened, but if it gets out of balance we'll have the earth erupting, so expect many great fires, the eruption of volcanoes (fire in the earth) earthquakes, landslides, explosions due to earth causes or perhaps to fossil fuels, and other influences emanating from the earth that can upset the balance of the environment. Many environmental issues could come to a head this year as our consciousness of the connections between our economic system and the world's climate become clearer.

GLOBAL WARMING DEBATES

Expect great debates about the role of mankind and our combined impact on the natural world to reach peaks in 2006. Many people will make changes in their lifestyles under this influence to help save the planet. Expect more environmental shifts in government policies forced by people pressure. It's to be expected then, that there will be more cooperation among countries this year aimed at setting up an effective system for the protection of global interests, such as resolving environmental conflicts, global warming issues, religious differences and the prevention of disease. The ongoing debate about the Kyoto Treaty may be resolved in 2006.

The Dog character in Chinese is one of what is called the 'Stars of the Arts'. This indicates great academic achievements are possible this year as well as issues around the role of humanity, so new knowledge about humanity will come to light. Illumination of mankind will be an important outcome from this knowledge and we will all benefit. Discovery of new truths about ourselves are very possible, especially related to our past on the earth. Since fire rules illumination and the earth is our home, many new truths will surface about the origins of mankind this year. The much touted connection between science and religion (or spirituality) will be made very clear this year and bring us a revolution in science and its place in the world. Movies such as 'What The Bleep...' will be accepted in the mainstream and more will come forward to express the same truths.

FAMOUS DOGS

What sorts of people have been born in Dog years? A look at some famous ones will give you ideas on what to expect this year. Sophie Loren was a Dog - she pioneered independent women's images in film. So too was Albert Einstein who fundamentally turned science on its head. Marconi pioneered radio transmission; Benjamin Franklin a scientific experimenter; Bizert, Gershwin and Debussy wrote amazing music for their times; Elvis Presley transformed modern music; Bridgitte Bardot changed attitudes to sexuality in cinema and then went on to champion the cause of animal rights; Robert Louis Stevenson wrote adventure literature; Vladimer Lenin helped to transform Russian politics and ideology; Yuri Gagarin was the first man in space and Von Zeppelin gave us the helium balloon as transport.

FINANCIAL SECURITY

Because the Dog is a bit  of a worrier and suffers from anxiety, its not a good year to be over-extended financially. The occurrence of natural disasters and changes in the environmental status quo brought on by earth shifts and changes plus new policies from governments to change the effects of pollution and mankind's impact on the world will change economies drastically (in some countries). Its best then, in the Fire Dog year, to not overextend your credit and to look after long term planning for yourself in the future. This revolves around the  state of the world's weather as well as long term climate change. Look to longer term contingency plans for yourself and your family. What would you do if a New Orleans style disaster happened to your city? Could you cope with loosing your home and all your financial assets? Where would you go? Who is your community that you would turn to for help? Make plausible plans based around these types of events. Draw up possible escape routes from cities or urban areas and see where your personal support lies amongst the people you know.

 
This is not meant to scare you, the reader, but to prepare you for all possibilities in the coming future. The Fire Dog year is a good one to start where support for people issues and personal justice is high and people are looking for greater purpose in their lives. The Chinese Year of the FIRE DOG is going to be one where many environmental problems will come to a head but also a year where you can see the greater possible future for yourself and family and to make sure you know why you are here on earth and what the true soul purpose is for your existence.

Fascinating Trek into the Void

Art Historian and meditative adept, Mark Levy, has written a wonderful, very well-researched and pioneering work of art depicting the Tao (the Void). It is enormously exciting for this reviewer simply to open the pages of this book at any point and become immersed in its words and depictions of one of the most mysterious subjects in the Universe.
For many years I have taught my students about how Creation emerged from the original Void, but it is rare indeed to find anything written about it, let alone to have the artistic renditions gathered together into  what I feel will become an important reference book on this subject. It must have been an enormous and challenging project for the author, in spite of his obvious spiritual realization.

The Void Itself is a paradox, simultaneously being emptiness and everything. Bringing myself into that state of consciousness is at once immensely fulfilling, natural, soul transforming and overwhelming. My favorite parts of the book are when Levy writes about Kali, the Eastern goddess who exemplifies the blackness, depth and intensity of the Void. Kali starkly rips from one all illusion, delusion, non-authenticity, and ignorance. In return, she then rewards with divine love, ecstasy and mystical illumination.

I salute the artists over the years who have expressed their visions of the Tao. And my deepest respect  to Levy for bringing them together with his insightful, multidimensional commentary in this brilliant and successful dive into the Void.

My highest recommendation. Will surely become a classic.
