Hello everyone!
Last Friday, I was priviledged to take part in a wonderful conference call in clearing the area of Capetown, South Africa following a beaching of whales there due to unknown circumstances. It was hastily assembled...hence the small number. We hope that by posting this that you may join in energetically. Also, there will be more sessions coming up.
At the very end of this email is the link to the session so you can hear it. The link on site is only good for another week (until June 19, 2009). You can listen live or download to have as your own file, especially before it expires.
See below for more of an update which came later after the session. It gives more data on the situation.
June looks to be a month of much to do and experience. Let's get it off to a intensely healing experience. Share your energies with the dolphin pods---in the sea and on land.
with blessings,
Alijandra

Hey Shirley
and Allie,
so good to join you today.
End of the week Friday is a
challenge to bring people on
board for a call, but we did
it! And now we can share
this link with anyone who
wants to listen in and join
the energy that's already
cleansing
sweet Mother Earth.
Shirley, Allie - thank you,

today. And Michelle, we
missed you and your angelic
voice and MC'ing, and we
know all is in divine order,
so we share this audio with
you and all of who you wish
to share it with too. Much
love to you 3 beautiful
ladies leading the way for
so many.
BTW - HAPPY 11:11 day!!!

NOW AN UPDATE FROM
COLLEEN:
Dear Sisters,
Our
mediation
on Friday night with
Shirley Irene and Alijandra
was beautiful, and I feel we
did some really good work.
Since then, I have been
doing research and have
found amazing atrocities
against whales by the IWC.
I have also joined a group,
The Good Ship Liliana, whose
founder drafted the email
below to the
European Commissioner for
the Environment.
There is a week long meeting
coming up in June of the IWC.
If you could, would you
please just copy and send
the email below to the
commissioner with your date,
signature and address
to help to ban whaling in
Japan and
Denmark. I sent this
to my
Care2.com network
as well. There is a new
YouTube video out by
Pearl Jam showing the
whaling industry's
cruelty. Two men in Japan
have just been arrested and
are awaiting trial for
simply turning over a box of
whale meat to
investigators, which arrests
were urged by the whaling
industry. Also, if you want
a better idea of the area,
simply google "Africa maps"
and "Cape
Town Whaling" and you
will come up with a lot of
info and links. Thanks for
getting this email out to
the EU commissioner as soon
as possible!
I
look forward to future
mediations with all of you.
I truly think it makes a big
difference!
Love and joy,
Colleen

We must ensure that these
proposals are rejected
Denmark to Kill Endangered
Whales
It’s that time of the year
again and EIA’s campaigners
are busy pulling together
the final preparations for
the annual meeting of the
International Whaling
Commission (IWC) in Madeira
from Monday 22nd to
Friday 26th June.
As part of a large network
of organisations attending
pre-meetings with the
European commission, EIA has
been working hard to ensure
that the UK government plays
a leading role in developing
the conservation and welfare
work of the IWC and
countering efforts to
undermine the ban on
whaling.
This year, the
European Commission
has decided that the 24 EU
members of the IWC must have
a common voting position on
some issues. But with such a
diversity of views between
countries, there are
understandable concerns
about members reaching a
consensus that ensures the
continued protection of
whales.
Every year the IWC meeting
sees a similar battle
between pro-whaling
countries and those
attempting to keep the ban
in place. This year, two
main proposals are being
fought
We must ensure that these
proposals are rejected
Proposal 1:
Japan is rewarded with
legitimate whaling in its
coastal waters, despite 2
decades of abusing IWC rules
by killing thousands of
whales.
Japan’s killing of 20,000
small cetaceans in its
coastal waters is often
forgotten but never by EIA.
Asides from the cruelty,
they threaten the survival
of these cetacean
populations around Japan. In
addition, the meat sold to
the public in products like
whale burgers, is so
polluted that it threatens
the health of people that
eat them!
Proposal 2:
Denmark to be allowed to
hunt 10 humpback whales to
supply Greenland’s
subsistence communities.
This proposal is being
suggested despite evidence
published last year showing
that there is a great deal
of whale meat on sale
commercially (i.e. not
subsistence) in Greenland’s
supermarkets.
Take action!
Express your concern about
the implications of the EU,
IWC members sharing a common
position by writing to
Stavros Dimas,
European Commissioner for
the Environment, NOW.
Many thanks

<<<< Date >>>
Dear Commissioner Dimas,
I am writing to express my
concern about matters
relating to EU members of
the International Whaling
Commission (IWC).
I understand that the
European Commission has
decided upon a common
position for EU members of
the IWC. With a diversity of
views amongst EU IWC
members, I am concerned that
trying to achieve a common
position may result in weak
common positions that could
be detrimental to the
conservation and welfare of
whales,
dolphins and porpoises.
This might include EU
abstentions on crucial
votes.
Although the EU IWC members
are provided with a Common
Position it seems open to
wide interpretation that
could include allowing the
resumption of some
commercial whaling including
in the coastal waters of
Japan.
I am concerned about the
lack of transparency and
engagement of civil society
in the EU’s decision making
process in reaching the
Common Position for EU IWC
members. It is essential
that the millions of
European citizens who demand
effective protection for
whales, dolphins and
porpoises are satisfactorily
represented by the decision
makers at IWC meetings.
There must therefore be a
process of transparency that
ensures these
representatives are
accountable to and
effectively represent the
views of their citizens.
Please can you ensure that
EU IWC members understand
that interpretation of their
Common Position means
actively rejecting any
initiatives that would allow
the resumption of whaling
including in the coastal
waters of Japan.
It is essential that this
group of IWC members is seen
to play a leadership role in
enhancing the conservation
and welfare of all whales,
dolphins and porpoises at a
time of growing threats to
them and their habitats.
Yours sincerely,
Please include your name and
address in the letter.
